We are confident that our website will provide clear and concise help and give our patients the information they require in an easy and convenient format. It has been designed with the patient’s needs at the forefront of everything, from checking surgery times to letting us know what you think of us.
Our dedicated team are here to treat those minor ailments that occur as well as providing specialist management of long-term conditions and clinics covering a wide range of healthcare issues. The technology also means you can now do a lot of things from the comfort of your home such as order a repeat prescription or cancel an appointment.

Warfarin Prescriptions - Patient Information
As of the 1st January 2016 The Oaks Medical Centre will no longer be issuing repeat prescriptions for Warfarin. All patients on Warfarin should now receive their repeat prescriptions directly from their Anticoagulant Clinic.

Are you eligible for a free NHS Health Check?
NHS Health Checks are being offered to people aged between 40 and 74 without any pre-existing conditions. The NHS Health Check aims to help patients take action to reduce their risk of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and kidney disease and overall prevent ill health.
Patients in this age group who have already been diagnosed with the following conditions will not be sent an invitation as they are already receiving regular reviews at the surgery: Heart or Kidney Disease, Diabetes, Hypertension, Atrial Fibrillation, TIA/Stroke & high cholesterol.

DID NOT ATTEND (DNA) Appointments
Throughout February 2016 there were 720 wasted appointments. This has occured due to patients not informing the practice that they were unable to attend a booked appointment.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE if you aren’t able to attend an appointment please let the Surgery know at your earliest convenience. This is so we can then offer this appointment to another patient.
Named/Accountable Doctor Scheme
Since April 1st 2015, all GP practices have been required to allocate a named accountable GP to all their patients. All patients at The Oaks Medical Centre have now been allocated a named, accountable GP who is responsible for their overall care. If you wish to know who your allocated GP is, please ask at the reception desk of your surgery.
PLEASE BE AWARE: You are still able to make appointments and been seen by any of our Doctors and Nurses, not just your named GP, still is purely an administrative task and will not affect your experience within our surgeries.
