Home Visits

Home visits are for patients who are truly housebound or whose medical condition means they are too ill to travel to the surgery. In these circumstances it will be possible to arrange for a Clinician to perform a house visit. Please phone the surgery as early as possible in the morning or before 10:00, so the Clinicians can arrange their visits.

The Clinician will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the Clinician to schedule house calls.

Please remember that home visits by a Clinician are not appropriate for common childhood illnesses, headache, earache, tummy bugs, sore throats or flu.

For sudden serious illness such as a heart attack, shortness of breath, severe bleeding, severe abdominal pain it is more appropriate to arrange for an emergency ambulance by dialing 999.

You can also be visited at home by a Community Nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a Health Visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
